AgriStability
Welcome to the Province of British Columbia's Website for AgriStability. In early 2008, as part of the Agriculture Plan, the Province committed to taking responsibility for the administration and delivery of the AgriStability program. The program is currently delivered by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada from Winnipeg. The federal government affirmed its commitment to transfer delivery to interested provinces in the January 2009 budget. Transfer agreements are currently being negotiated.
As a result of the transfer, producers will have access to regional representatives who are knowledgeable about BC’s agriculture sector and the diverse growing regions of the province. The shift in delivery will give producers more personalized service. The British Columbia Ministry of Agriculture and Lands is expected to begin AgriStability delivery by the end of this year.
The federal government will continue to deliver the program for British Columbia , until the transfer of delivery is in place in late 2009. After that the province will start processing applications for the 2009 program year. Farmers should continue to contact the federal administration for information on 2009 interim payments and for information on their claims for prior years (2008 and earlier).
