Diagnostic Virology

[image] The Diagnostic Virology section of the Animal Health Centre (AHC) began in 1972 with the purchase of an egg incubator for isolation of avian viruses. Since that time, this section has been expanded to include routine virus detection of over eighty pathogens in domestic poultry, ratites, wild and exotic birds, food and fur bearing animals, companion animals, marine mammals, wild and zoological species, and aquaculture salmonids. The Virology section of the AHC offers one of the most extensive and complete services available in Canada.

The Virology section endeavours to provide the very best services available and to stay at the forefront of Veterinary diagnostics by developing or utilizing new diagnostic tests for both common and emerging pathogens.

All of the personnel have a minimum of 10 years of experience in diagnostic virology.
