Who we are
The Animal Health Centre (AHC) is a full-service veterinary diagnostic laboratory, located in the Abbotsford Agriculture Centre in Abbotsford, British Columbia and funded by the B.C. Ministry of Agriculture. The Animal Health Centre is one of only two laboratories in Canada accredited as a full service Veterinary Diagnostic laboratory by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD). Full accreditation demonstrates adherence to quality control and quality assurance procedures. It provides confidence in our users that tests are done by well qualified people using appropriate equipment and procedures with results that are accurate and reliable. Our mandate is to diagnose, monitor, and assist in controlling and preventing animal disease in British Columbia. We provide a full range of fee-for-service diagnostic testing, including Pathology, Bacteriology and Virology. In addition, laboratory staff is frequently involved in the development of new diagnostic tests and the initiation of investigative projects to address emerging disease problems in production animals, poultry, and fish.
