Dietary imbalances are considered to be significant factors affecting livestock production in British Columbia. This laboratory section emphasizes the analyses for minerals, vitamins A & E, non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA), beta hydroxy butyric acid (BHBA), and milk urea nitrogen (MUN) analyses, that assist veterinarians and producers in nutritional management and ration formulation -.
In addition, the Chemistry / Toxicology section provides limited toxicological analyses with emphasis on toxic agents such as strychnine, metaldehyde, lead, mercury, nitrates, and organophosphates (by acetylcholinesterase activity)
