Canola Disease Resistance Ratings

This publication provides disease ratings for registered varieties of canola. Resistance to diseases can be an important consideration in the selection of an appropriate variety, but there are many other agronomic factors to consider as well. Not all of the varieties listed will be suitable for every region of British Columbia.

Canola - Alternaria

There are currently no canola varieties that are resistant to Alternaria stem and pod spot. However, Brassica rapa (= B. campestris) cultivars are much more susceptible than B. napus cultivars.

Canola - Fusarium Wilt

Of the known susceptible canola cultivars, the only ones currently on the market are Canterra 1604 and Roper. All new cultivars/hybrids that are registered are required to be resistant to Fusarium wilt.
