Harmful and Beneficial Insects and Mites of Tree Fruits
Acknowledgements
The authors are indebted to many extension and research entomologists
for the information they have collected and published over the years
that we have incorporated in this book. We thank the various agencies
that have given us permission to use their photographs which have
been acknowledged where known. A special thanks to Diane Thomas
of Integrated Crop Management Inc. for her diligence in taking needed
photographs that were not available from colleagues, and for her
assistance in editing and overall preparation of the manuscript.
We appreciate the useful comments of Dr. Gary Judd and Frank Lauer
who reviewed the manuscript. Finally, we thank the many packinghouse
fieldmen, horticulturists and fruit producers who intially requested,
then supported, the preparation of this book. We hope their encouragement
has borne fruit!
The first printing of this guide was funded in part by the British
Columbia Fruit Growers' Association and by the Productivity Enhancement
Program of the Canada-British Columbia Agri-Food Regional Development
Subsidiary Agreement (ARDSA 1985-1990). The Agreement, which provides
a variety of programs for the development of the Agri-Food industry,
is cost shared equally by the governments of Canada and British
Columbia through Agriculture Canada and the British Columbia Ministry
of Agriculture, Food & Fisheries respectively.
The responsibility for the publication is the authors' alone and
does not reflect the opinions of the Federal and Provincial governments
that funded the publication.
