Life Cycle: Overwinter as eggs in bark of host tree. Nymphs of the first generation can be present from late April to mid-June. Most adults migrate to summer hosts while a few remain in the orchard. At least three generations per year.
Monitoring: Use limb taps beginning at pink or early bloom and continue until egg hatch is complete.
Hosts: Apple, pear.
Comments: Nymphs are yellow to light green in colour and move quickly. They resemble aphids that are green and sedentary, and leafhopper nymphs that are white to pale yellow, narrower in shape, tilt their abdomen upwards, and move slightly sideways when running. Damage can be extensive to apples (depending on variety) but is usually negligible on pears.
Body length: Adult - 3.0mm; Mature nymph - 2.5mm
