Life Cycle: Overwinter as adults which lay eggs in spring. Females care for the nymphs until nearly mature. One generation per year.
Monitoring: Earwig traps (crumpled paper in tubes or cans, rolled cardboard) can be used to detect their presence and to collect individuals. Limb taps can also be used to monitor their presence.
Hosts: Pear psylla nymphs, aphids, soft-bodied insects.
Comments: Earwig nymphs are very similar to adults except for their smaller size and lack of hard wings. Earwigs are most active at night and seek shelter during the day. They will feed on over-ripe or split peaches and apricots.
Body length: Adult - 14.0mm; Mature nymph - 13.0mm
