This Act provides a comprehensive scheme for the regulation of hunting, angling and the management of the Province’s wildlife resources. The Act enables the Ministry to acquire and administer land, improvements on land and timber, timber rights and other rights on private land. The Ministry administers the Act except as it relates to fish and aquatic plants. Specific responsibilities include establishing and protecting wildlife management and critical wildlife areas; declaring and protecting endangered species; granting, suspending and cancelling hunting, angling, firearm, fur trading, trapping, outfitting and guiding licenses; prescribing hunter training courses and regulating import and export of wildlife; enforcement; establishing and operating appropriate appeal procedures.
