AAC Workshop 2005
On February 17, 2005, the second AAC Workshop was held to bring together members of Agricultural Advisory Committees from around the province. The Workshop was held in Abbotsford to coincide with the Pacific Agriculture Show. The 127 participants included representatives from 18 of the 21 AACs, the Agricultural Land Commission, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands.
Presentations from four AACs highlighted recent achievements:
- Comox Valley Agricultural Plan by the Comox Strathcona Regional District
- Joint farm tour by the Central Okanagan Regional Distract and City of Kelowna AACs
- Small Lot Agriculture in the District of Kent, and
- City of Surrey's enforcement of illegal fill dumping in the
ALR.
Group discussions focused on building strong relations with Councils and Boards, dealing effectively with ALR applications, successfully developing and implementing agricultural area plans and how to develop communications and the exchange of information between AACs.
The Summary of Proceedings includes the four presentations and notes of the group discussions. It also contains results of the participant evaluation of the workshop, a list of the workshop participants, and a list of AAC contacts as of the time of the workshop.
